Help on Mayaysia trip
 

Since this is my favorite travel site and I get so much usefull information I could use some help.
My fist week is September 28-October 5th 2012 at Golden Palm Sea Villas and Spa. It is in Laland,Sepang Selangor,Malaysia. Tried looking in Atlas & I can't really see whhere it is.
The second week is Palace of the Golden Horses-I did read it is 20 min drive to Kuala Lampur. Should I get a guide here-any suggestions?Oct 5-12th.
The 3rd week is Laguna Holiday Club in Phuket. I have 1 day to get here-October 13-20th.
My best guess is to fly in & out of Singapore-From San Francisco. Maybe stay in Singapore a day or 2 on both ends.
We flew Singapore Airlines on our last trip to Thailand & Bali. They no longer code share with Delta-I called Delta & the upgrades to Business where pretty high. Any other airline suggestions? I do like business for such long flights and my husband & I are a bit older.

I'm not quite sure what you are looking for. It looks like you have all of your hotels and that they are all time-shares, so no flexibility - is that right? If you have other choices, let us know so we can make recommendations.

Google Golden Palm Sea Villa, Malaysia, and you'll find it's just minutes from the KL airport. Likewise, the Palace of the Golden Horses in near KL.

There is no need for a guide in KL. In fact, I hope the places you are staying are resorts with lots to do, as I find KL pretty boring. Go into the city for a day or maybe two for sightseeing, a bit of shopping and some great restaurants.

I expect you already know it will be pretty rainy in Phuket. Beaches may also be red-flagged.

In terms of flights, flying though SIngapore is a fine idea, and I expect you'd enjoy a few days in Singapore. I always enjoy a stop in SIngapore... plenty to do and see. But check on Malaysian Air. I think they fly out of LAX (check that) and they are excellent. That would give you the most direct flights. I don't know who Malaysian Air partners with.

There are plenty of us here who have been to Malaysia so can answer some questions.

Thank you so much.Yes,the accomodations are pretty much set. I'm sure they will have things to do but for us just relaxing & trying food is wonderful-also reading by the pool. I guess a long way to go for pool sitting. It will be our 30 year anniversary & my birthday.
I do like to hire guides in different areas-we had Tong in Thailand-Ahmed Amed Yousif in Egypt & Edip in Turkey-all reccomended on Fodors. Maybe someone could reccomend one in Malaysia so we could venture out & see some of the country.

When we went to Thailand in 08 I was disapointed we didn't go to Phuket. It was pretty nice in October-I hope I won't be disapointed. (We went to Bangkok-Pattaya & Northern Thailand as well as Bali. Maybe I should have gone back to Bali but I wanted not to fly around so much .

Kathie-I saw all your info on Singapore-printed it up. I think I'll plan just 1 night when we arrive in Singapore & 4 nights at the end to savor the city. Do you know if the Conrad International is part of Hilton chain? I am also Marriotts-but it looked a little pricey in Singapore. I have a friend who's husband was stationed there & she said it was her favorite city. I'll have my birthday there-thanks again. C

Sorry, I can't help re: the Conrad. Singapore hotels have gotten expensive. I'd suggest one of the booking sites. I've had good luck with www.agoda.com for Singapore. Also, Bob (rhkkmk) had a special promotional code for the intercontinental that he and several others have used.

We always enjoy SIngapore.

Conrad is part of the Hilton chain. I haven't stayed at the singapore property but have stayed at the Bangkkk property a nunber of times (my favourite place to stay in BKK.
