Help on itinerary , 10 days Thailand & Vietnam!!!
 

I would love if someone could help me out with my trip itinerary. I'm going with a friend (2 young women), leaving New York to BKK on Dec 23rd and returning Jan 8th. We both only have tickets so far.

We would like to spend 5 days in Thailand and 5 days in Vietnam. We are more beach lovers than moutain lovers... But we know that we can't miss the exotic beauty of the main cities.

- The only thing I know so far is that we'd like to spend New Year at Greenspirit Party ( takes place by the village Na Thai in a Rubbertreegarden destrict Krabi ( 4 Km from the famous Ao nang, Nopparatara beach RayLey ,Tonsai and Phranangbeaches). Does anyone have heard about?

My first suggestion is that with only ten days you pick one country or the other.

SORRY MY BAD MATH... IT WILL BE A TOTAL OF 16 DAYS...

Ah, much better although even with 16 days I think you would be better off with one country. If you really want to do both I would spend 6 days in Bangkok, 4 days in Hanoi, 1 day in Halong Bay and the remainder of the time at the beach of your choice.

Here are some things to do in Bangkok. This would take two weeks so pick what interests you most.
1. Grand Palace/Temple of the Emerald Buddha
2. Rent a boat and driver and do a klong tour that includes Temple of the Dawn, the flower market and, if interested, royal barges
3. Jim Thompson House
4. Vimamanek Mansion
5. Wat Po
6. Prasart Museum and gardens
7. Half day trip floating market
8. Marble Temple
9 Archeological site of Ayutthya -- day trip
10. River Kwai day trip
11. Suaan Pakkard Complex
12. Eat in some of the great restaurants including Bed Supper Club
13. Shopping -- you could easily spend all 6 days doing this
14. Great restaurants
15. Have a drink or dinner by the river
16. High tea in the author's lounge at the Oriental Hotel
17. Chinatown
18. Weekend market
19. Night market

As for the beach -- I;m someone who does not understand why anyone would travel thousands of miles to go to a place like Thailand or Vietnam to go to a beach. So I'm no help in that area.

Four days in Bangkok is plenty.

Personally I would skip the:

1) Weekend market- too crowded and hot!
2) River Kwai- all day affair and not much to do/see- the brige, the cemetary, - ok for history buffs but as you do not have that many days in BKK- I would skip this.
Other suggestions by Gloria are good- try to see the Calypso Cabaret at the Asia Hotel- its a blast! (female impersonators- very entertaining/classy)
