Help Me Make A Bangkok Hotel Choice
Three women will be traveling in Asia. Part of the trip will be in Bangkok. We have had some recommendations for moderately priced hotels on the river -- they are great deals. The prices are so good (<$50) we thought that we might as well get separate rooms. Alternatively -- we could book a more expensive room on the river and room together. Putting aside any privacy or other issues -- are there big differences in the hotels that would encourage us to go the route of the more expensive hotel? We will be staying before/after a trip to Bhutan where the rooms will not be particularly plush.

the problem is that there really are no hotels offering decent accomodations for 3 adults....only one or two beds and a roll away or a cot...
a two bedroom apartment in a serviced apartment might be a better choice....take a look at centre point silom...it is perfectly located... the cheaper hotels are not very nice generally....but after bhutan any thing might seem nice... take a look at this site for a range of hotels: www.huahin.20m.com of course it will also depend on when you travel as after may 1 and before oct 31 prices are substantially cheaper... |
CentrePoint Silom offers a 2 BR apartment (180sqm) for around 7,500 THB (US$192)
The location is good - between Shangri-la and Saphan Taksin BTS, above Robinson's department store... this might be the best solution for all 3 of you. I can't see any reason to pay more than this price. CentrePoint has all the facilities you'll need. |
I highly recommend the Centre Point Silom. We were there last month. The location is great; right near the sky train and central pier. Our one bedroom apartment was very large and comfortable.
There is actually a better rate of 6600 baht all inclusive at this website: http://www.sawadee.com/hotel/bangkok/cpsilom/ Cheers! Tamara |
I agree that the Centre Point would probably suite you fine. While the 2 bedroom is hugh, the 1 bedroom (80-90SqM) would also do if you wanted to save some money. For 3 it would be around 3780 or $97us. See this site

BTW, the rate I posted was for a 2 bedroom. We stayed in a 1 bedroom for $80 and I think that would be sufficient for 3 ladies.
There is one king size bed in the bedroom and they can put a roll-away bed in the living room and you will still have plenty of room to hang out. Cheers! Tamara |
We stayed at Centre Point Silom last month for $86.94 a night. That was for a one-bedroom, but we were put in a two-bedroom with one of the bedrooms locked.
The two-bedroom apartment was huge. Our bedroom and living room had television sets. The living room had a media center if you have time to relax on the two sofas. Our bedroom had a king-sized bed and a large bathroom. We peeked into the other bedroom (from the small balcony) and it seemed to be set up the same way. Also, there is a 1/2 bath near the front door of the apartment. You can't beat the price and location. |
