Help! India Visa question....
 

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me with this. I have been on the internet for longer than I care to admit trying to figure out how to get a visa for India. I will be arriving in Delhi next March - staying over 1 night - and leaving the next day for Bhutan. It appears I need a visa to do this.

1. Can I use the "e-visa" I saw on the website. It will not allow me to apply for one more than 34 days out? I am worried that this wont be the correct visa and I dont want to wait that close to departure to find out.

2. If I apply for a regular visa and submit it to Cox & King (it seems India has outsourced visa issuance to them) - then what type of visa do I need. I selected the category "tourist visa transfer" (the Indian website suggested I needed a "tourist transit" visa but that is not a choice on the form)
and after spending quite some time filling out their forms I find that that is not what I want.(it ask me for the visa number I want transfered) The site will not let me go back and change the visa type so I have to start all over.

I am exasperated and figured someone on this site can help me!

Thanks - I will do that. I was trying to knock it off my list Saturday - everyone closed. I will call them on Monday.

My husband, colleagues, and I all used the e-tourist visa option online and had no problems. We received our visas by email the day after we applied, and used them without problems to enter India at the Delhi airport this month. When you arrive in the Delhi airport, be sure to stand in the eTourist Visa line to go through customs-it is past the other lines.

If you plan to visit India in the future, it is worth while to apply for the 10 year mulitiple entry visa. Anyone with US Passport can get this.
