Helicopter trip to Halong Bay

For those who have taken the helicopter /boat combination to see Halong Bay, please advise as to the safety of this trip and expected cost for this excursion.

Just forget about it, roosevelt.

They'll lie, book it, take your money - then cancel it, just as you're ready to leave the hotel, citing sudden Government requisition of your ancient, terrifying Russian-made flying pile of scrap-metal.

Which leaves you no options at all - gosh, except for the mysteriously available car waiting to drive you three hours there and back.

Then you'll have a battle to get your helicopter money back. I'm still waiting for mine.

Thank you for your thoughts. Roosevelt

I've never heard of this combined trip before since from what I've known junk boats are most common there.

Dogster, that means you were booked a trip of that type and it turned out badly?

LOL! Dogster is so right! Except it was no problem getting our money back from our travel agent Asia Transpacific Journeys.

Hey Femi; I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Travblog: the flight is to Halong Bay, then you do the bloody junk ride into the endless mist, then you catch the imaginary heliocopter back to town. Yup, the above post means that I was booked - and it turned out as described.

Ok, I got it. Thanks.
