HCMC and Mekong Delta
I am planning a 2 week trip to Vietnam over Christmas. Right now I have three days planned in HCMC and an additional one on my way home. Right now I am debating if I have time to include the Mekong Delta in those days. I have heard mixed reviews about HCMC and am wondering if the time would be better spent in the Mekong. Also, is a one day trip worth it or do you need to go for at least 2? Any suggestions for tour companies? Or would you drop Mekong for this trip?
Looking for any suggestions. |
HCMC is worth some time, its not as enjoyable as hanoi, but you will find plenty to do.
the delta gets more negetive respponses than positive. |
We very much enjoyed our time in HCMC and the Mekong Delta. We like to get a general overview of a country when we visit, and would not have gotten that if we had not gone to HCMC and the Mekong Delta. We spent 2 days in HCMC and spent one full day seeing the Delta, including a Cai Dai
temple (not the biggest or most famous one, but a smaller one)which was on the way to the Delta. We chose to skip seeingthe tunnels. |
We liked HCMC & spent 3 nights there -- it was quite a cosmopolitan, sophisticated city with several interesting sites to enjoy. We spent 2 nights in two different locales in the delta, Can Tho and the 2nd night in Chau Doc. Just the one night in Can Tho would have been better. It was worth the trip. You could stay 2 nights in HCMC and an overnight in the delta. U can read about our time there at the end of our TR
