Have you ever experienced this in Japan?
I have a single-entry visa and I was not aware of that when I left home and Japan
Now, I'm in Hong Kong and I have to fly to Tokyo in order to get my flight back home. I have to sleep a night there and I'm freaking out.
Has anybody ever heard about a permit that they give to tourists and last for 24 hours?
Thanks

What country's passport are you traveling with? That makes a big difference in the visa rules. http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/02.html#a might be helpful. A shore pass may be a possibility if your layover in Tokyo is due to airline schedule it seems from the info in the link I gave you.

You could approach the immigration authorities at the airport with your problem.( I presume you are taking a connecting flight in Japan ).The Japanese officials are helpful and cordial if you can explain your predicament.you also have an option to stay over at the transit hotel if its only for a night.

I agree Kim - if you read the previous posts none of this makes any sense at all.
But, as she mentions in an earlier post, she and her pal are having a 'girlie backpacker adventure' which probably explains everything - I'm sure she'll survive.
Without a visa I'm not sure she'll be allowed on the plane to Tokyo anyway, unless it's a transit stop, in which case she won't be leaving the airport.

Yes, the shore pass might work. The whole problem was with the SF Japanese Consulate they didn't explain they were giving me a single-entry at all. (and they were aware about my whole itinerary).

I believe it is your own responsibility to be sure you have the correct visas for each country you will visit. Are you sure the consulate in SF knew your itinerary before your trip? It seems to me even you didn't know your itinerary clearly based on your posts.
Are you traveling on a US passport? You don't need a visa then. Brazilian passport? Looks like you need a visa...but might be OK for shore pass depending on your itinerary maybe. Rkkwan gave you the address of the consulate in HK...I'd call them and/or go there before returning to Japan.
