Has anyone ever been to Armenia?

I just reviewed some pictures someone suggested from a website and it looks amazing.

Two years ago we approached the Armenian border at Mani on the Turkish side. Across the river we could see blockhouses, guard towers, barbed wire, and guys with binoculars and machine guns watching our every move. We were escorted around the ruins of Mani by a Turkish soldier who warned us to take no pictures across the river because the Armenian soldiers over there liked to take shots at nosey tourists like us.
We took his word, took no photos, and lived to tell you of this experience with the People's Republic of Armenia.

Hi Al I surprised to hear your story. Its sounds a little strange that they would say that?? Is it some kind of propoganda?? I have read a little of the history of the turks and the armenians and they have had a battle for a long time. From the pictures I saw of Armenia on that website they obviously let the photographer take all sort of pictures. I guess every side has its own story. and to Samantha....there are more countries in Asia than China....This is the Armenian site...

dear monica:
i was in armenia ( 1997 ) and found the country interesting but devastated by the long soviet rule, and lack of investment. people are certainly poor and the infrastructure requires upgrading, but the country itself is more than interesting for anyone who has a slight interest in history and culture.
