Has Anyone Changed Their Plans to Visit India?
 

We're heading to Delhi on Sunday for a friend's birthday party and everyone in the group has decided to go.
We're looking forward to the trip and after the birthday party the two of us will be heading up to Assam for a ride down the river with Assam Bengal Navigation.

My brother was going to be staying at the Taj in Mumbai for the cricket in a couple of weeks, but it looks like the Test Match has been moved from Mumbai to Chandrigagh.

Anyway whether it's correct or not I keep reading smug articles online in the British press that there have been very few holiday cancellations in the UK.

I wondered have the recent bombings in Mumbai changes anyones plans or thoughts about visiting india?

The Times of India has had some articles about this group who did Mumbai concentrating on Delhi with the airport and 3 train stations-be careful but don't give up your trip plans.

Four of us are due to leave on December 12 for a 21-day trip. All of us are on pins and needles. Until yesterday, we had all decided to continue on with our holiday and I felt the most adimant about "not letting the terrorists win". Last night I heard on the news about a train bomb somewhere in the north and it jolted my confidence to the core. I also have read that there were possibly 15 gunman and 5 are still at large. We have until Friday to cancel our plans without excessive cost. After that, cancellation fees will be much higher, but not as costly as our peace of mind. We are sitting on the fence and haven't made any definite decisions.

No we are flying to Goa on the 27th December and we haven't even discussed changing our minds.
We often fly long-haul either for Christmas or immediately after. I have lost count of the times there have been imminent terrorist warnings - but never (I hasten to add) not to travel. Most often they have been threats against travel to the U.S. and many is the time I have had to force myself to get on the plane- why? have you ever tried telling a child who has looked forward all year to going to Orlando that you feel really uneasy about it?
Just because we have always been safe does not mean we always will be of course. I am somewhat comforted by having travelled in India. My impression is that the vast majority of people mean us no harm. On that basis I am going.

Dogster thank for the link, I didn't know about the Dec 6th threat. Also good to see the Times online. We are going via Singapore where we'll be staying overnight, getting to Delhi Dec9th.

We'll be gentle with Udit, hopefully he will reveal all!

We leave for Mumbai on Saturday December 13th. At this point we are continuing with our plans, but we are watching future developments and may adjust our trip if necessary.

We don't leave for India until early Feb. At this point, we are still planning to go. And looking forward to it!

A few days ago, when the news came out about a possible December 6 attack in Delhi, we (4 of us) decided to cancel our trip. Although we are not easily scared, we also do not want to spend our time feeling uneasy and looking over our shoulders at every turn. I hope that all of you who do travel this year will have safe journeys.

We are leaving o December 19 from Detroit over to Delhi, then for our tour of Rajasthan.

We have not even thought about canceling our trip due to the State Dept Warning, attacks or the like.

The only reason we are second guessing ourselves is our financial situation, hubby works for auto industry! Nevertheless, we are forging ahead, it is going to be a great trip!

I guess the only I can do is pray and hope for a safe trip for us and the others who are traveling to India.
