Has anybody been to Jeju Island, Korea?
I'll be going to JEju this August and I would like to know your comments about the place.
It seems there is little information in the net about Korea in general. It seems their tourism agency need to beef up. If not for their popular dramas, it won't give me an idea to visit this quiet country. For well-travelled Fodorites, I hope you can reply to this thread. Thanks |
I am completely unfamiliar with Korea except for the Korean dramas that I watch. It sounds like you do the same ;-). They do seem to mention Jeju Island - in Bizarre Bunch and Farewell to Tears if you know which dramas I refer to. I would love to hear about it as well.....and please post when you return!

Hello, Mara.
Good to hear that you're into Kdramas also. You've been swept by the Korean wave. Yeah, I will do a trip report on my return since little has been written about Jeju, Korea. Thanks. |
Yes, been. Definitely do a day trip with www.jejeeco.com - the Russian owner who takes you out is a font of information re the island and with lunch at a local restaurant loads of local flavour. I've posred before re stuff to do in Seoul. We stayed at the Hyatt in Jeju which was ok, not great but adequate.

I went as a teen on one of my trips back to Korea. Cheju-do (or Jeju) was known as a honeymoon resort location for newlyweds. You will find wonderfully fresh seafood and a style of life that varies from the bustle of Seoul. I haven't been in years, but remember enjoying it very much. Plus the Cheju women divers (Haenyo) are known to free dive down to 15m for ~3 minutes without scuba equipment! BTW: Globe Trekker's Ian Wright's Korea visit includes Cheju-do!
