Has any one ever used/won a travel auction on Luxurylink.com?

I am always checking on the website luxurylink.com for great accomodation packages on their "closing soon auctions". But, haven't had the nerve to go for one yet. Does anyone have any experience with it?

I have checked their prices and find that their beginning price is often more than I'd pay through a good internet website for the hotel. There are always "extras" in their packages, most of which I'm not interested in, that makes the package a "bargain." Someone recently posted here that they had used Luxury Link, so I expect you'll get a first hand account.

I used them last year for a trip to Nevis in the Caribbean....the deal I got was much better than anything available directly from the hotel. I plan to use them in a few months for a package in Bali.

I've used luxurylink 3 times for stays at Caribbean resorts and once at a lodge in the US. The auction prices were much better than what I could find otherwise. These were small resorts that don't sell through any internet/discount websites that I know of.

I haven't investigated their Asia offerings but you should definitely check prices available through all other sources before bidding.

Once you've won an auction, you contact the property directly for reservations. What I generally do is call the property before bidding to verify that there's availability for my dates.

I have used them to buy a San Francisco 3 night hotel package and saved 200 USD.
And I am thinking of using their wonderful packages/auctions for travel in Asia next Summer.
Higly recommended!

I tried but didn't get a bid for Ventana Inn. You get better prices for what they are offering you - but maybe you wouldn't have tried to book a suite anyway - so it may not represent savings in you total planning, but it does represent value for what you get - if that makes any sense.

When I did it - I didn't know that the closing time for auction changes each time there is a bid. So if you post a new bid in the last 1 minute - the auction wil stay open for another few minutes (can't remember actual time). This changes the dynamic a little (I think this is different than Ebay).

My 2 cents

Thanks for your help. I have been looking at an auction for a party of 14 in Costa Rica. Thought all the family could get together there. It is an amazing deal.

Croipep-
I used them a few years back for a 5 night package in Costa Rica. It was an awesome deal. But, do be careful at look at the hotel's website to see if the package is a good deal or not. Like any bidding situation, set yourself a limit. And, make sure you can use the package for the exact dates you want before you bid.
I haven't seen any exceptional deals for Asia on there for a long time.
