Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Happy Thanksgiving to all Asia-boarders!

Except for Mary Alice, I think that the entire board is in Asia (or, in Dogster's case, in a universe unto himself), but happy holiday wherever you may be.

In Tokyo, where Thanksgiving arrived 9 hours ago, it's an exciting time. I'll soon head to the traditional Thanksgiving Day parade on the Ginza, where hundreds of thousands will enjoy the floats and giant blowfish balloons. (Of course, Tokyo has nothing on Canada: Thanksgiving arrived there 6 or 7 weeks ago. They are so impatient, the MapleLeafers.)

Best wishes for an enjoyable day and feast.

Happy Thanksgiving to you rizzuto! So lucky to be in Tokyo for the festivities. The fall colors must be beautiful there about now. If you haven't already been, check out the little Koishikawa Korakuen Garden next to the Tokyo Dome.....must be beautifully colored right about now...

Where else are you off too?

It isn't quite Thanksgiving Day yet in Illinois (riz, I'm not in BKK yet). Happy turkey day to one and all. DH and I are off to Switzerland on Thanksgiving evening, from ORD. We will hopefully squeeze in a plate of turkey and all the accompaniments before having to leave for the airport! That should help us fall asleep on that thru-the-night flight to Zurich.

Thanks for the great tip, HT! The Koishikawa Korakuen Gardens were fabulous today. Wonderful fall colors (subtle, Japanese colors rather moreso than the vivid New England colors), and a very special feeling. And of course the contrasting harmonies of the serene garden overlooked by office building, a roller coaster, the buzz of Tokyo, and the Dome.

Glad you enjoyed Koishikawa rizutto. It is one of our favorites in Tokyo.

In the midst of all the modern surroundings it is a bit of ancient Japan still preserved amongst the modern environs. I can sit on a bench by one of the ponds in that park, close my eyes and then open them to a time that seems a couple of hundrend years back and make my mind wander for a few moments to imagine what Edo would have been like way back when......

We were just there a few weeks ago and the fall colors were just peeping in the park. I envy your timing for the fall colors there.

I also think I know what you mean by about the subtle fall colors of Japan compared to what we are used to in the NE USA. I experienced the same on our recent trip. So subtle, yet vibrant, colors are not screaming out like our NE.....yet the beauty is still very much there......so Japanese :)

Hope you got a few nice shots in that park.

Aloha!!
