According to Google Maps, it's at 67 Hàng Điếu.

The easiest thing might be to find the Elegance Ruby Hotel on Yen Thai street (more like an alley, actually) and ask someone there. They really are extremely helpful people, and Bun Bo Nam Bo is just around the corner.

Good luck!

Quan an Ngon is definitely great. We also liked Hanoi Garden a lot.

In HCMC we ate a a fabulous Italian place by accident: Pendolasco. It was amazing!! We also ate at Barbecue Garden which was a lot of fun. Just don't get the wild boar or goat - it was very grissly and tough.

Mme Hiens was right across the street from our hotel Golden Legend. We ate there several times and really enjoyed the food and the gracious atmosphere.

mr_go and Mohan
Thank you for the address and photo for Bun Bo Nam Bo. We'll be back in Hanoi in a week and hope to give it a try. Thanks!

Go to Cha Ca La Vong and have Cha Ca Thang Long. This is a very tasty Hanoi dish. The restaurant is on Cha Ca street.

peripateticduo - please let me know if you found the bun bo nam bo restaurant. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. We stayed in the Elegance Hotel off the alleyway and it was only a few minutes walk from there.

Thanks everyone! Just arrive this am in Hanoi and happy to have this list.

dgunbug Feb 7th, 2012 02:48 PM

I'm so envious! Have a fabulous trip.

HappyTrvlr Feb 8th, 2012 06:55 AM

We returned to the Ly Club a second time, delicious food and attentive service.

Had an excellent meal at Green Tangerine tonight. More like US prices, but very creative. If u balance it with our $5 lunch at Bun Bo Nam Bo it lowers the food costs for the day! Yesterday Hanoi Kids took us to Quan an Ngon which was also very good. nice to have four people so we could sample a variety of food. Hanoi Kids did the ordering.

anybody try Yin & Yang on Ma May near New Day, I think. Nhung at Tonkin recommended it. It opened last Spring I believe.

mr_go Feb 8th, 2012 07:21 AM

Glad you're enjoying it, yt! It seems like Hanoi Kids takes everyone to Quan An Ngon... and that's a good thing, IMO.

Have fun, and be careful crossing the streets!

dgunbug Feb 8th, 2012 03:41 PM

I hope you are enjoying your meals as much as we did.

yestravel Feb 8th, 2012 03:59 PM

Yes, we're loving it. Crossing the streets is an art. I would wade in and move very quickly, but Hanoi Kids said u walk slowly. In either case, I don't even look! Our guide back in Thailand called it, "leap of faith."

Hanoi Kids have a nifty guide they used which they showed me. New Day is also on it and Koto, plus several other restaurants.

Mr_go & dgunbug, your TR's have been great guides for us and fun to read again. and dgunbug, the research notes u emailed long ago have been terrific. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your wealth of information.

dgunbug Feb 15th, 2012 08:10 PM

So pleased my notes were helpful.

mr_go Feb 17th, 2012 05:46 AM

Yes, what dgunbug said. It was a pleasure to meet you and your SO in Luang Prabang, too!
