Then I would go with the Metropole - Club Floor, as it is one of the best, and even if you don't agree, the location is great. Just part with the money, this one time - you may get a deal from Tonkin, along with a driver...

Smeagol Jan 2nd, 2015 11:16 AM

Bob, the club at the Metropole you would love... And Karen can get her fill of wine :d the deserts are to die for ( nearly as good as Miccato in Warwick!!!!

kmkrnn Jan 3rd, 2015 05:15 AM

Smeagol ...I could use something from Miccato tonight. After reading TA re the Marriott, I liken the location to that of the ANatara in BKK. Yes , some times an inconvience, but the creature comforts, and benefits of Marriott status out weigh the inconvience. Besides...if Linda and I want to go shopping we are not afraid to get in a cab and go, leaving the men to sip their beers. I think we will head to the old town for dinner most nights, and for a sight seeing, if we h ave a driver 1 day that will get HT to see what they are interested in. Then L and I can shop for a day.

My post was from 25-Nov.

Well, I finally had a chance to read the reviews of the JWM on TA. I do believe I would have a hard time not staying there even if I were going for the first time, especially on the Executive Floor (and had not stayed at the MP). Sounds like you have a plan and it should work out well - looking forward to hearing about this trip. BTW, I read your original post - 3 adults, one child? Is that child you or Peter?

Smeagol Jan 3rd, 2015 12:01 PM

Lol Craig......

Keep in mind that the hotel stay is as important as being in the center of things for some of us. As well are the hotel amenities and ambiance are important. And of course if one can use points it's another aspect.

rhkkmk Jan 3rd, 2015 07:43 PM

who do you think???

me of course... you are the only bright one on this thread

BillT Jan 4th, 2015 03:04 AM

Great minds think alike!

hawaiiantraveler Jan 4th, 2015 11:57 AM

We will arrive two to three days ahead of the Kimballs. We are looking to stay at the Metropole so we can experience both worlds. Club level of course Craig.

Aloha!

Sounds like a great plan. The opera wing is the best! Great restaurant walkable from there is Green Tangerine.

Craig Jan 4th, 2015 03:19 PM

Good choice, Peter!!! As Nicky says, Opera Wing is the place to be...

rhkkmk Jan 5th, 2015 12:45 PM

we shall see which is better... I have my choice already..

that's a very long walk nicky

Smeagol Jan 5th, 2015 01:01 PM

I don't remember it being that long Bob but then I love to walk everywhere and I do remember we went for a stroll that night but as I said it didn't seem that far to me.

Good to see you are going with an open mind Bob ;)

Smeagol Jan 5th, 2015 01:05 PM

Ok just google earthed it, it's 900 m which I guess is about half a mile.....

Craig Jan 5th, 2015 03:41 PM

Too long for Bob - 10 minutes for those of us more mobile.

Several other good options within walking distance or short taxi, as well...

Smeagol Jan 5th, 2015 09:56 PM

Yes loads of great eating choices in Hanoi, spoilt for choice really....

rhkkmk Jan 9th, 2015 03:20 PM
