Hanoi- Best Old Quarter Hotels?

Hi,

I am planning a 5 day trip to Hanoi in March and would appreciate any recommendations for mini hotels in the Old Quarter district.

I heard that the Camelia Hotels Group have very good hotels in that area. Has anyone stayed at either Anh Dao or Phan Thai?

Thanks...

We stayed at the Anh Dao several years ago. It was simple, but clean and very conveniently located. The staff was very helpful. I think we paid US $14 per night for a quad room, continental breakfast included (this was about 3 years ago) - great deal for $3.50 per person!

We stayed at The Galaxy and found it completely to our liking. Good breakfast, sparkling clean, adjoins the Old Quarter. Get a corner room on the 4th or 5th floor and watch the whirlpool of traffic down below -- it's the greatest show on earth.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies...did you guys find it very noisy at nights? Did you use any of the hotel's tour services?

We used HandSpan tours (office a couple of blocks away) for side trips to Halong Bay and Perfume Pagoda, as well as train tickets to Hue.
