Haneda to Higashi-Ginza Station
 

It seems to me that each day when I google how to get from Haneda to my hotel in Ginza I get slightly different results.
Google directions usually offer a combination of Tokyo Monorail and then Asakusa line to Higashi-ginza (staying in Grand Bach Ginza) but it's unclear to me if I need to change trains or it's all one train from Terminal 3.
Also, I am arriving at 5pm on a Sunday and it shows significantly longer travel time that day vs. regular business days. Is that because, just like anywhere in North America, public transport runs a slimmer schedule on weekends or it's time of day related?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you plugging in the actual date and time you expect to leave the airport?
I chose Nov 12 at around 5:30. I'm reading the directions to say that you take the airport line (Keikyū line) for 3 stops without getting off the train, then switch trains onto the Askakusa line with 4 stops to Higashi-Ginza. Walk about 4 minutes, and it willl be 29 to 44 minutes total to your hotel.
I wouldn't worry too much as Ginza is well served from Haneda airport, so there should be lots of options with only slight changes in the total time.

Thank you lcuy Yes, I was plugging in the actual date and time. Switching trains is what's confusing as I think I read somewhere that Haneda is connected to Ginza directly which to me meant no switching trains. Also, do I pay the airport line separately from the Asakusa line?

If it were me, I would take the monorail to its endpoint, Hamamatsuchō Station (13 minutes), and then take a short taxi ride from there to the hotel.

Monorail has dedicated space for luggage, while Keikyu train does not.

After a long flight (I assume yours is, mine was 17 hours) to Japan, everybody has a different energy level for the last mile to reach one's hotel.

Ah limo bus doesn't seem to run to Ginza until January. :(

All taxis in Tokyo take credit cards.

You may also consider taking a taxi from Haneda Airport to your hotel in Higashi-ginza. My guesstimate is that your fare would be around 6,000 to 7,000 JPY. At Haneda airport, follow the TAXI sign to the curb. Tell the uniformed guy there that you need a taxi to Ginza. He will point to you to wait in a queue that looks the longest. (Those who are heading to Yokohama direction wait in a different and shorter queue.)

But don't worry, your queue will move fast. Give the taxi driver a piece of paper with your hotel's name, address and telephone printed on it. To be very sure, ask the driver, "Credit Card OK?"
Most drivers understand that phrase.

Not sure if booking with them would help or complicate things though.

Since your flight may arrive early, or late, and the immigration line is hard to predict, on top of that, you have an additional responsibility to meet your driver.

If it were me, I'd choose the carefree way. I'd just line up in the airport taxi queue.

Thank you Reading54 We are arriving on Sunday just before 5pm so all considered, once we clear the custom, buy the Suica and/or got some cash and whatever else needs to be done at the airport right away, fetching a taxi from Haneda is most likely our best choice, all considered.

I agree with lcuy - it's one train to Higashi-Ginza. I'm not a taxi person and the train seems really easy.....

Don't know where you're traveling from but I hop, well maybe not hop, on the train after traveling from NY.

Don’t forget to use credit cards with no foreign exchange fee and choose to pay in yen, not dollars. 7-11 and a hotel had such option. It is DCC dynamic currency conversion and is bad deal. Option was 142 yen/$ when rate was 150. May be a fee too. Just choose yen tap the Japan flag icon if you see the option. I don’t remember seeing this before in Japan.

I started seeing it on my trip this spring...so annoying....

ok, I used the same standalone 7-11 machine 10 days ago in Canal City as I did last year. Maybe my memory is correct and I did not see the option then

Coworker Tom was able to get a no-forex fee card issued same day when he went to his credit union. Fee would have been 3%

Doutor coffee. Had a laugh with J-lady next to me when I showed her my forearm was about the same size as her thigh.

Happy to report that Haneda to Ginza monorail + Asakusa line worked out perfectly. We took the express line, no changing trains needed, very straightforward and simple. Bought the Pismo card at the airport and everything went very smoothly. Sunday evening trains were half-empty.

Lawson's in Kyoto a few days ago was charging 110 yen per 10,000 withdrawal at a rate of 145/dollar.(bank rate was around 151) I skipped and found a bank that charged a flat 220 yen per withdrawal but I do not know the rate. I therefore use a credit card as often as possible. My Suica card on my iPhone does not accept Three different US Visa cards but does work with my AMX platinum so that is another way around changing currency.
