Guys, I need your advice

Myself , my husband and our one year old daughter are planning a vacantion to Malaysia on November. Please advice us what are the best places we can visit considering the young age of our baby.
My husband’s interests are wild life and forest, while mine are beaches and water fun. We need to stay in a place that is close to both interests. On the other hand, this place should be next to a market where we can buy fresh food for our young kid.
Our intention is to stay for a week or 10 days.
Please note that my husband is very lazy and most of the time he will be watching/photographing animals, birds or plants and I will need to do everything by myself.
Thanks in advance !

check out what kutching or other area's in "borneo" has too offer. the area seems to offer a good combo wild life, beach, and small city conforts.

This will be difficult consider the interest difference. Wild life and forests are normally inland and uphills but beaches and water sports by the sea. Difficult to get both, I suggest 3 nights each area. Will you prefer East Malaysia and Borneo or West Malaysia where the major cities ?

How about(west Malaysia):
3N in Taman Negara(a forest reserve with wildlife)
2N in Penang(Beach and City)
2N in Langkawi(if you fly, not ferry for the baby)- many beaches and forests, less wildlife.
OR select just 1 of the last 2.

KL, the capital only if you want city. There is a large walk-up cave near by and no beach but a indoor water theme park.

Thank you guys for your replays.
My husband prefers the west side of the country and Borneo has to be for him the destination but i am afraid for my baby because of the leeches and mosquitos. He only wants Borneo, Kota Kinabalu. i will se ...
Thank you again.

I suggest you bring along your food for your one year old. This will eliminate the need to be near the markets and also avoid any problems the one year old may have with the local food- all it takes to spoil your vacation is for your one year old to eat something that disagrees with him/her and bingo there goes your vacation!

I'm headed to Borneo in November, so have done a lot of research. I would not take the baby inland in Borneo (malaria risk), but in the coast there are not leeches and there is no risk of malaria. There are gorgeous beach resorts you and the baby could stay and your husband could take day trip (or an overnight) to jungle areas. There are many lovely places to stay on the beach near Kota Kinabalu.

BillT, i perfectly agree with you, i should bring some of my baby's food with me...
Kathie, we are going to have this 10 days vacantion in November. I will make some researches also about where to stay in Kota Kinabalu. Do you have any sugestion regarding 4 stars resorts?
Thanks a lot for your posts.

There are two Shangri-La resorts outside of Kota Kinabalu, but there are many others as well. I'd go to an internet booking site like www.asiahotels.com and search for hotels near KK and see what you find.

yes I would also suggetst staying in a higher end franchise hotel. just for the babies sake.. it would be cleaner safer and many places woudl have doctors on call.
