Guangzhou to Hong Kong airport
I am wondering if there is a direct bus or train from Guangzhou to the Hong Kong airport. I have seen a few schedules, but they are all on Canton Fair sites and I am not going during the Canton Fair (I am going Dec 11) so I am not sure if these schedules are valid. Here is that site:

instead of starting a new thread thought i'd post a similiar question.
need to get from downtown Hong Kong to Guangzhou on 21-Oct. I've taken the train from Hong Kong to Dongguan before. Last time I purchased the tickets through the hotel. Can anyone point me in the right direction for train schedule? need to then get from Guangzhou to Hong Kong Airport on 23-Oct. This thread had information on buses. How long do they take? Is there a ferry directly from Guangzhou to HKG? thanks in advance! |
meggles -
Times and fares for direct Hong Kong-Guangzhou trains can be found here: http://www.kcrc.com.hk/html/eng/serv...ices/index.asp There is no direct ferry service from HKG airport to Guangzhou. A direct bus will be your best choice. |
BTW, the official HKG website has good fare/times information on ground transportation to Guangzhou and other parts of Southern China:

thanks for your reply rkkwan-
i'm going to take the train from Hung Hom to Guangshou East Train station. Then i'll take a taxi?? to my hotel (marriott china hotel). my hosts have said that the guangzhou train station is very unsafe. is it really? will there be a problem getting a taxi (not a taxi tout but a proper taxi?) going back to HKG, there's a bus directly from my hotel to Hong Kong Airport. it leaves every 1/2 hour. But, I assume I'll have to get off twice for customs? how long should i budget for this trip? my flight out of HKG to TPE is at 8:25pm. |
I don't think getting a taxi at Guangzhou East should be a problem. And Guangzhou East station is a different one from Guangzhou. Of course, you should be aware of pickpockets anywhere it's crowded, and there are plenty of crowded places in China.
Yes, you need to get off the bus twice crossing the border from China to Hong Kong. With all your luggage too. Cross China immigration, then look for your bus again, 1 minute drive to Hong Kong side, some deal. <b>Make sure you write down the license plate or bus number</b>. If you don't speak Chinese, see if there's anybody else in the bus that is using a passport to cross the border. Try to follow them as closely as possible. It's not a stress-free process. |
thanks for your information on bus transfer from guangzhou to hkg. really wish i could get a direct guangzhou to taipei flight. argh.

They are running some direct flights between the Mainland and Taiwan during Mid-Autumn Festival next month. :) And for the last few years, during Chinese New Year holiday.
|
really? which airline is flying & when?
|
meggles - Those are special charters, but are flown on the regular Chinese and Taiwanese airlines. If you're flying during those periods and know a good local travel agent, they may be able to get you a seat.
