group tours for single traveller

I have been in the process of trying to find a group tour that best fits my needs. I'm in my mid-30's and would like to travel with a group that has a range of ages and is fairly active. With that, I do not want to rough it and prefer to stay at nice hotels. This is a daunting process as there are SO MANY tour groups out there to China. Has anyone traveled with Peregrine Adventures? Any candid advice on group tours would be appreciated. I need to book my trip soon as I am traveling in June 2007. Thanks!

I have taken trips with Intrepid and they've been terrific. There are no single supplements, they will pair you with a same sex roommate,or you will have your own room, depending on the size and composition of your group. If you want to stay in nice hotels, take a look at the "Comfort"level of itineraries.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked out Intrepid. They seem great. I would prefer though to have the option of single room/ supplement.
Apparently Adventure Center does the travel arrangements for Peregrine tours. Has anyone gone through Adventure Center and had a good experience?

I went through Adventure Center back when they were handling Intrepid. No problems. (Intrepid now does their own US bookings). I've done four tours with Intrepid, and my assigned roommates were great.
