Great Currency "Cheat Sheet"

Oanda.com has a site where you can enter any currency and convert it to any other currency and it comes up with a wallet-size currency "cheat sheet" that is really fabulous. You can then laminate it or (as I do), just back it with stiff paper and cover it with clear packing tape and you have a perfect, instant resource when shopping or negotiating.

If everyone on Fodors already knows about this, I apologize for redundancy, but I travel all the time and I didn't know about it, so I figure some of you might not know either.

I made my own years ago on Excel. It is a lot easier now with the € but it will work well in Asia. Mine is a bit fancier. I have more small change entries and I color code it for the particular currency's coins and bills.

Thanks for that - I usually make up a simple one for myself but this will save a lot of time.

Good one! I just made a copy too.

I've been using the Cheat sheet for years, it's great. We just used it in Malaysia and it came in very handy, although I still carry a small calculator with me. Also currencies fluctuate so the cheat sheet may not be entirely accurate if your in a country where the currency is in constant flux. Malaysia has been pretty steady so it worked out well there.

HI Thanks for the tip. With a little work I can make a cheat sheet with conversions going each way and laminate them back to back, if you follow me.

THIS is great! Thanks so much.

Another thread mentioned that pepto bismal caplets - with water- will keep your tongue from turning black.

NGail Sep 8th, 2007 08:57 AM

EEEK-
This was supposed to go onto another thread (obviously!!)
Well, it's good to know anyway, isn't it?

Jed Sep 9th, 2007 06:16 AM

It sure is. I will remember that next time my tongue turns black. ;;)
