try contacting president bush...it is where he stayed last year....it is one of the top 5 in bkk...great location...good restaurants...shopping near by...near to the skytrain, 4 seasons hotel, conrad hotel, gaysorn plaza shopping, etc....across the street from the american ambassadors residence....don't knock on his door for halloween...
you will love it...

only negetive is that it is not on the river

Bob has pinpointed the main drawback i.e. the non river location - if that is important to you. Personally I prefer the Four Seasons which is on the same road, 2 doors down. But the Grand Hyatt is a lovely hotel, great Thai restaurant specifically. If you are getting a good rate go right ahead and book it.

Haven't stayed at the Grand Hyatt...too massive of a place for my taste... but have walked passed it many times as I stay next door at the Four Seasons...I highly reccomend the Four Seasons...but whichever one you pick, they're both in a great part of town.Happy Travels!

It's a nice hotel. The Thai restaurant on the 4th floor has an order from the menu "buffet" (one price, all you can eat) that is a real treat. For my taste, the rooms are very modern and feel a bit "cold." I perfer to stay by the river. While there is nothing wrong with the Hyatt, it's "just another luxury hotel in a large Asian city" while staying by the river makes it Bangkok. I also find that the air is clearer by the river, and I'm not as impacted by the traffic.

If you prefer a hotel away from the river, either the Hyatt or the Four Seasons are very nice.

I have stayed there and it is very nice. They also used to do the helicopter from the airport direct to te hotel helipad-very cool (if you husbands company is paying for it!! :)

They are doing some remodling now and the pool is closed until about May 2005 so if a pool is on you list go elsewhere. If a pool is not that big of deal then sd=stay there because theya re discounting rates due to the reconstruction.

Just got back from a trip there. Didn't stay at the Hyatt but did shop nearby. Its a nice place but staying on the River was much nicer (in my opinion)...
