Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel
Could anyone please give us any recent feedback on this Singapore hotel? In earlier posts comments have been that it is a bit too out-of-the-way. It looks to be a nice, modern hotel.

Everything is relative to what you want to be near. The Waterfront in the name refers to the river, not the harbor. the hotel is about a 10 min walk to Chinatown. It's not near an MRT stop but you can also walk to lots of restaurants and nightclubs in the Robertson Quay, Clark Quay, Mohamed Sultan areas nearby. 5 min taxi ride to Orchard Rd. About the same to the historic district. There is a pier out the back where I believe you can catch a bumboat for a boat ride along the river.

When I'm in Singapore, it's important to me to be close to an MRT stop, as that's the way I get around Singapore. By that criteria, the Grand Copthorne is out of the way. But as Lindsey says, it depends on what you want to be close to.

It is a little out of the way; but taxis are unbelievably cheap in Singapore. I did ALOT of cruising around town from the Grand Copthorne and never paid more than SG$6 for a taxi. Plus it's right by a quite nice river cruise up to Clarke Quay.

Thank you everyone for your helpful replies.
We would prefer to be more central so have now booked into the Pan Pacific, Marina Square, having found a good deal on Expedia - averaging US$185 a night including taxes, full breakfast, food and drink credits and late check-out (Deluxe room-Leisure Package). Thanks again! |
