Beth, how lovely of you to post here. Andy's presence is really missed here on the Asia board. I think of him often and miss his wit.
My best wishes to you, Beth. Should you ever feel like crossing paths at the ROS in Bangkok, Cheryl and I are game!

I havent been here for some time and was stunned to see that Andy has left us. I will miss him and his playfulness here, esp. with Bob.
I was in a great mood when I came here tonight, but now I'm Hope he's in a far better existence now.

as an update to the memorial fund, i would like to share with you that a small group of us will visit the orphanage in late october and present them with items that they need for their continued operation and for the kid's enjoyment. i will report back after this has been done.
again, thank you all for your rememberances here of andy and for your contributions to his memorial in thailand. and thank you to Hanuman and Tong who have assisted us from thailand.

Beth, your comment and the Updike quote are most welcome.
I too continue to miss Andy's warmth and wit. How remarkable that an on-line presence could be so vibrant!
My guidebooks and trip binders will continue to bear valued Gpanda recommendations.
Bob, I hope that you will report back on the memorial delegation's late October trip.

Just wanted to say that I really miss Andy. When I met him at the two LA GTGs we laughed about the insane rage that occurs over on the Europe board. One poster just admonished another one for being "smug," and I know Gpanda would have gotten a kick out of it.
Bob, Is it too late to contribute? I'm always so tardy. Is there a link, or do I have to get it together to mail a check?

this is an old message of course, but i thought i would update people..
Because of the extreme flooding last fall we were unable to visit the orphanage so we have saved the funds for our visit this november. As an added bonus, mrs gpanda will accompany us.
our plan is to give the orphanage at least 3 computers, some clothing, some food, some games and lots of books (andy's passion).
Speaking of books, the staff at fodors has collected over 100 books and has sent them to Thailand, where they arrived safely this week. We will present them at the same time in November. Thanks again for this.
