Good restaurants in Shanghai
 

We will be in Shanghai for three nights. Some restaurant suggestion would help. Thanks

Din Tai Fung for soup dumplings. Wujie for fabulous vegetarian dishes. Songfang Tea House for traditional tea in the French concession. We also adored the breakfasts at the Grand Hyatt where we were staying.

Were there for work and had a lot of private functions, so didn't have as much time to discover as we usually do. Wanted to go do Cha's and do the dumplings tour mentioned in this NYT piece, but didn't have time:

If you aren't looking specifically for Chinese cuisine and like fine dining I can recommend M on the Bund and Mr and Mrs Bund. I would advise making reservations for both well in advance.

Mr & Mrs Bund has a set menu and a la carte and offers discounts after 11pm inc buy one get one free on bottles if wine.

M on the bund has great views from the 7th floor roof terrace.

You will probably find that moving around Shanghai is not so easy. Therefore, all your eating choices will be nearby to your hotel. Indeed, if you think some fancy name and price will serve up 'better' food, suggest you modify your thinking. Wine in China? Highly outside tradition. Better to try the ancient alcohol of China 'bai jiu', aka in english, white spirits. Buy the small bottle.
