Golfing in Thailand - require "handicap certificate"?
Does anyone know?
I am a beginner golfer, and find out that if I want to golf in Hong Kong's only public golf course, I have to present a certificate showing that my "golf handcap" is better than a certain level (36). Some courses in Italy are the same. Maybe they do not want to beginner/slower golfers to slow things down. Does anyone know about Thailand? does it depend on the individual courses? Thanks. |
I play terrible and its never been a problem.

The courses here will not ask for proof of a handicap but some might ask you verbally when you're registering(Royal Bangkok Sport Club).
Definitely avoid slow play or the marshal will rushing you forward! |
Even though this is my first year golfing I have been able to keep up with the rest. If I miss a shot I just walk over to make another one. I don't take forever to hot a shot, nor do I do 3-4 practice shots like some people (just 1-2).
As long as I can keep up with people in front of me, I am OK. It's just when they officially ask for a handcap certificate that's troublesome. |
Alpine Golf & Sports Club is the the only one I've heard of that might inquire about your handicap. They discourage anyone over 18 not to play there.
