Golfing in Thailand - require "handicap certificate"?

Does anyone know?

I am a beginner golfer, and find out that if I want to golf in Hong Kong's only public golf course, I have to present a certificate showing that my "golf handcap" is better than a certain level (36). Some courses in Italy are the same.

Maybe they do not want to beginner/slower golfers to slow things down.

Does anyone know about Thailand? does it depend on the individual courses? Thanks.

The courses here will not ask for proof of a handicap but some might ask you verbally when you're registering(Royal Bangkok Sport Club).

Definitely avoid slow play or the marshal will rushing you forward!

Even though this is my first year golfing I have been able to keep up with the rest. If I miss a shot I just walk over to make another one. I don't take forever to hot a shot, nor do I do 3-4 practice shots like some people (just 1-2).

As long as I can keep up with people in front of me, I am OK. It's just when they officially ask for a handcap certificate that's troublesome.

Alpine Golf & Sports Club is the the only one I've heard of that might inquire about your handicap. They discourage anyone over 18 not to play there.
