going to nikko

i thinking about going to nikko, using the world heritage pass. however, i want to travel on the spacia limited express.

is this an option with the whp? the website said the cost of the pass doesn't include travel on spacia.

i don't mind paying for an upgrade to ride the spacia, but i don't see it as an option. i was wondering if i will be able to upgrade at the tobu travel center, when i present my whp.

anybody done this?

ken, I think the upgrade with the whp is 1300 yen

have you seen this?

yes you can upgrade. price depends on what station you get on at. no more than 1400 yen from asakusa with whp

peter, mahalo for the great sites. so, i'm assuming i can get the upgrade at the tobu travel center in asakusa, prior to departure time.

we'll just be going for a day trip, returning to tokyo late afternoon.

Thanks for the tip HT. Was wondering where KT & I could meander on our next real day off. Looks like a great destination.

Do itashi mashite bmttokyosan,

Try the bus ride from Nikko to Lake Chuzenji also if you have a chance. It is a thrilling ride(you have to take the bus to know what I mean) with spectacular scenery and it should be even more so around Oct 20-28 if my guess is correct this year for the fall foliage. A week or two earlier if you go all the way up to the lake. Hope you can take a break soon!

If you can squeeze in an overnight try out the Senhime Monogatari Ryokan for a relaxing evening. BTW the couple in the "photos from guests" pictures are the infamous Mr & Mrs HT. See here for further details.....
