I love to go to Sky Bar at the top of State Tower. It is the most beautiful bar I've ever been to, and the view is amazing.

Massages. Call the Wat Pho School of Massage and have them send someone to your hotel room.

Bed Supperclub is lots of fun for dinner and people watching - bring money though - you'll spend $100 for two.

The aquarium at Siam Paragon and the Presart Museum about 45 minutes outside of Bangkok are "newer" as well - not necessarily my favorite things but worthwhile none-the-less.

Bradin- I'm sure its as beautiful as the Banyan tree. I plan to go there this time around though! Thank you!

Gpanda- We are going there too!! Thanks :)

Craig- This is something I've always wanted to do but never happens. My wife's friends always take us to some other hot Thai spot, since they are Thai. Thanks!

klong tour by long tail boat....prasart museum....visit the zoo...

Mango, I agree with the suggestions about the Sky Bar and the aquarium but the thing I discovered for the first time last month after 9 visits to Bangkok was the performance of the Khon at the Royal National Theatre. Truly something to remember and totally Thai!

Chatuchak weekend market in Bangkok offers an incredible array of items, from clothing, hand-painted ceramics, and food to antiques, jewelry, and pets. The market is huge -- around 35 acres. There are several "streets" to walk down within the market and then narrow alleys under cover. The market's human traffic count is estimated at more than 200,000 per day. If you are in Bangkok on a weekend, the Chatuchak market is a place to put on your "A" list. It is very convenient to the Skytrain.

Thank RHK! Love to do the longtail..

Peter- I will look it up and try this, Thanks so much!

Flyboy- JJ market is amazing. Will be there again this time. Will be in Bangkok for a week this time! (Usually only 3 days)

Eat breakfast outside beside the river at the Peninsula.

Boat through the klongs...get the boatman to take you to the smaller klongs rather than the main ones on the tourist klong tour route.

Joe Louis Puppet Theater.

Massage/spa treatments.

Walk through Chinatown's back streets.

Hi Kim! Thanks for the sugs. Seems the Klong tour is very popular.. My Thai wife says the water is very dirty and disgusting (Kee) and flies on your face. I want to try it but she discourages me!

Thanks again!

Kurt-I second the Joe Louis Puppet Theater. It's in the Suun Lum Night market. The performance is wonderful and unique. Not to be missed. Tickets are easy to come by. Just call from your hotel the day of the show.

Will the puppet theater and SL night market still be open in late November? We really want to do that. We were fascinated by Balinese puppet shows and want to see the Thai version.

KimJapan Sep 18th, 2006 02:41 PM

I have heard that even when the SL night market closes the puppet theater will remain open, maybe in another place. When SL actually closes is not exactly known I don't think...I initially heard it would be closed in April 2007 and it's still there.
