Ginger or Valentine Junk?

We will be traveling to Vietnam & Cambodia in March. I have got lots of help in this forum. We looking to do the 2 day 1 night cruise. I've been been suggested by travel agent about Ginger Cruise and Valentine Junk. Which would you recommend?

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions

I have been on the Valentine Junk and it was lovely. Very small (only 5 cabins) and newer (i think) than Ginger (which i bigger i believe) the food was excellent and the rooms excellent. (i probably wouldnt go for the suite as its behind the main area/staff qtrs). We had a double cabin and would highly recommend considering it's only a small boat the room and bathroom was of a good size (there was even a bath!!). I booked via Tonkin travel and they got me the best rate for sure (we had a private transfer from Hanoi also included in the price)

Did you stay one night or two - we were recommended to stay 2 nights to savour the moment fully. Which month were you there - what was the cost with the private transfer? We will be there in Nov 2010. Did you consider the Paradise Junk as well?

1 night and it was November too (2009).Didn't consider 2 nights (glad we didn't) and no, hadn't heard of the Paradise junk. Can't remember price, I need to look it up but i think it was around $457.Other options i considered were Ginger and Jasmine.Contact Tonkin they can give you plenty of options in all price ranges.

We spent 2 nights on the Ginger in October, 2008 and were very pleased with everything--room, food, amenities. Tonkin Travel took care of transfers (on a bus) and the reservations. It really is a long ride from Hanoi so 2 nights seemed best to us. I don't remember what we paid.

Both are good. Ginger now is in restoration so it could be back very nice. There are two Valentine Junk, one with 2 rooms and another one with 5 rooms. The bigger Valentine is older. Both Ginger and Valentine are very good while Ginger is bigger (20 people) and Valentine is smaller (4 to 10 people). Service, cruising route.... are quite similar.
