Are you serious??? Are you bored and just looking to go check the place out?
If all else fails, join the Army. They'll be happy to send you there! :D Happy Trails... |
Not sure if you can fly, but people have put up reports of being able to crossover from near Peshawar. Of course, you should know the dangers that are involved (in Pakistan, while crossing and in Afghanistan). Also, if you're not sure how to get there, I suspect you've not researched enough about the conditions in Pakistan.
I met someone at the Atlanta airport who had come back from Afghanistan and in our brief conversation he said that after 2 weeks in Afghanistan all he wanted was a clean toilet - all to himself. :) |
I was going to suggest that before planning a visit to Afghanistan you go read the more recent posts on this thread at LP: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntre...3&keywordid=63 - but it seems to have degenerated into an argument about NGOs. Still worth digging through for info on the current situation if you're serious, though.
You can theoretically go overland from Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, as well as Pakistan, but this seems like a bad time to do it. Also from LP: "The most popular route from Europe or North America is to fly to Dubai, from where there are plenty of connections to Kabul. Coming from the east, the most convenient hubs to catch flights from are Delhi and Islamabad." |
Yes, it is possible to enter Afghanistan by plane. As mentioned above there are plenty of flights from Dubai to Kabul. There is also a flight from Istanbul to Kabul. Apart from this there are also flights from Tajikistan, India, and Pakistan to Kabul. If you wish you can also enter to Afghanistan by road from Iran, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. These borders are open to cross. If you have any further questions about travelling in Afghanistan feel free to write.
All the best and safe travels. |
Afghanistan and safe travels? Do they go together?
|
@ Elainee,
There are many places in Afghanistan which are safe to visit such as the Wakhan, Bamyan, Bandi Amir, Kabul, Mazar and Herat. Places in the south like Kandahar, Helmand etc... are dangerous and not safe to visit. |
Rather depends on one's definition of safe.
