Getting ready to leave for 5+ weeks

Dear Fodorite Friends,
Thank you for all your posts: you have helped us design a trip that will be super! Our final itinerary, arriving:
Oct 21 Hong Kong
Oct 27 Hanoi
Nov 3 Golden Triangle
Nov 8 BKK
Nov 14 Penang
Nov 17 Langkawi
Nov 22 Kuala Lumpur
Nov 24: head home

If anyone is going to be same time/same place and would like to get together, let me know. And if anyone has any new finds or last minute suggestions for food/shopping/sights, pls post. The only thing we are not looking forward to is the 36 hours of 3 flights (best we could do using miles for business class tix).

Sounds like a great trip. We're all jealous. Make sure you write a timely trip report. Nice amount of time in each location.

Where are you staying in BKK? Mr_go and I will overlap with you a bit there--arriving on the 6th and leaving on the 12th and staying at the Peninsula.

Ms_go, we 're staying at the Oriental. Would love to get together - - an easy enough ride across the river! What is the best way to contact you off line?

What a wonderful trip!

I'm afraid we'll miss each other in Bangkok, as we leave the morning of Nov 6.

FromDC, you can use the following email:

us at onelittleworld dot com

Put your screen name or something else relevant in the subject line, as that mailbox gets a ton of spam. I'll reply using a different email address.

Ms-Go, just sent the email.

Bob,
Thanks for the suggestions

rhkkmk Oct 17th, 2008 05:31 AM

top hat used to be called bon ton and is in an old house in a leafy enclave of K/L....so different from most of k/l today.....the manager is a lovely woman who will make you feel very comfortable and the food is good.....

we first went there when it was bon ton maybe 10-12 years ago based on a guidebook suggestions and now it is surrounded by hi-rise hotels and is called top hat...

where are you staying??

FromDC Oct 17th, 2008 05:57 AM

we're staying at the Mandarin Oriental - - I am hoping for a view of the towers from our room

Kathie Oct 17th, 2008 06:28 AM

My favorite restaurant in KL was Frangipani - absolutely fabulous!

FromDC Oct 17th, 2008 07:13 AM

the info on K/L really helps - - it is the only place I haven't researched.
