Getting from Phuket Airport to Krabi
 

G'day ALL,
I am trying to find out the cheapest way to get from Phuket Airport to Krabi (Ao Nang) and the approximate time it takes. I have 2 adults & 2 kids (9 & 10) in my party and so it has to be a reasonable level.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated !

First, you will likely have to get from the airport to the ferry landing on Phuket. No info on this transfer.

Then, there is a ferry between Phuket and Ao Nang. The ferry from Koh Lanta to Ao Nang was big, plush and fast. So, I assume this ferry would be, too.

Don't have specific info on the rates, however we paid about 400BAHT/person to ferry from Koh Lanta to Ao Nang. A comparable distance, I think.

It's about a 5-8 minute ride from the ferry landing on Ao Nang beach to Ao Nang town. Do-able by tuk-tuk, even for 4 people. depending on luggage. Can't even guess at the cost, but, we were paying about 25 BAHT/person for 1 mile rides around Ao Nang. You'd haggle the price, of course.

Krabi has a pretty nice airport if you can arrange to fly into it. We paid 400BAHT per person to go from Ao Nang town to Krabi's airport, so I assume that the reverse would be about the same. It's about a 20 minute trip.

We asked around and were told that the ferry's tend to be cheaper than taxis. I know the info is vague, but, perhaps, it will give you a place to start.

You can hire/charter taxis at Phuket airport so I'd look into that, especially as there's 4 of you.

Taxi from Phuket Airport to Ao Nang should take about 2 hrs 30 to 3 hrs, cost somewhere around B 2,500 for the lot, they have reasonable saloon like a Cressida / Toyota Camry which should be big enough for you and the children. You can just go to the taxi counter in arrivals ( after baggage claim area ). prices back from Ao Nang to Phuket tend to be a bit cheaper. From the airport you just head north across the bridge and then right towards Phang Nga, quite a pleasant drive.
