Hi,

Would appreciate suggestions concerning any nice hotels near/close to the International Airport in Delhi to stay overnight in order to catch an early flight the next morning.

We have stayed at two that I can recommend. The Radisson is just 10 minutes away, but rather expensive. We stayed in a club room, which included airport transfers. Nice breakfast buffet included. On our last trip we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot Gurgaon - not your typical Courtyard, and very nice by most any standard. It was a good value - we had a spacious junior suite with breakfast and airport transfers included - 20 minutes from the airport. For an early flight however, I would lean toward the Radisson just because it is so close to the airport and traffic would not be a factor.

I too stayed at the newish courtyard and really liked it... there can be some traffic issues at certain times at the toll booth

You can stay at the airport itself. No need to leave. It's called Plaza Premium Lounge. You can book it for the number of hours you want. It's right outside the arrival hall just beyond Customs.

Another option inside the terminal: Eaton Smart Hotel. I stayed there overnight when I had an early morning flight to Bhutan. The rooms are small but comfortable and the staff were very helpful . http://newdelhiairport.eatonhotels.com/

The Radisson is really the best choice there but as others have said, it is quite expensive. The Delhi Aerocity Hotel is a good value for money option for overnighters or short durations.
