Getting from Adam's Peak to Ella - Sri Lanka

Hi

I am planning a trip to Sri Lanka now in June, and wanted to know your opinions on two things:

1. Is it worth climbing Adam's Peak off season? - June

2. What is the best way to get from Adam's Peak to Ella?

Thanks so much and look forward to hearing from you

Hey, I'm planning on going to Sri Lanka next week, and was thinking about climbing Adam's Peak. Did you end up climbing it? Was it worth it? Did you go to Ella as well? I also heard to stick to the East Coast beaches in June - did you make it to Passekudah/Kalkudah by any chance? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Simcaczech, since that was brazillionhippie's one and only post, I'd guess he isn't checking back here. Ther are four current (2011) Sri Lanka trip reports here, just go to the drop down menu at the top of the page and choose Sri Lanka.

Simcaczech - Here is a link to my trip report which covers Adams Peak and Ella: http://www.fodors.com/community/asia...-and-curry.cfm

We found it very worthwhile if exhausting climbing Adams Peak. Yellow House at Dalhousie at the base of the rock is probably the best place to stay. Ella is a small town but has some good palces to eat and drink and again the scenery is wonderful. We drove from Adam's peak to Hatton to pick up the train to Haputale and onwards to Ella by car. the train journey takes 4-5 hours and takes you through the most beautiful landsacapes - well worth the effort.
