Gallery Cafre- location? and how are the massages upstairs?

Working on my last minute details...

I know Bob and Andy mentioned the Gallery Cafe. Can anyone describe how to find this from, say, the oriental hotel?

Are rewervations a necessity?

Is the massage place a separate shop? and how much do the massages cost here?

It's in the area between the Oriental and the Royal Orchid. From the entrance to the Royal Orchid, you walk along the road toward the Oriental. Just after the road turns, there is the Gallery Cafe. No reservations required.

I haven't tried the massages, I'll let Andy tell you about them.

Lucy-The exact address is 86-100 New Road 30. From the Oriental, take the Oriental ferry to River City or the river ferry to Tha 3, Si Phraya, walk out to the street in fron, Captain Bush Lane, take a right follow the street when it bens to the left, the Gallery Cafe will be on your right just before you get to New Road (Charoen Krung). Alternatively, hop a cab from the O, it will cost 40 Baht.

The massages are quite good. Make sure you get the two hour massage. the extra time is well worth it. Even Beth was impressed. I suggest that you not eat and get a massage in the same visit. You could eat, wander River City for a few hours and then return for a massage.

On the spur of the moment, I did the one hour reflexology there a couple of weeks ago. It was 350 baht. I had been shopping all up and down New Rd and was hot, tired and my feet hurt. I remembered they had massage at Gallery Cafe and popped in....they took me immediately. The massage space is upstairs in a quiet darkened area. Comfortably air con. (Much more relaxing for reflexology than those brightly lit store fronts.) The foot massage was very good and finished with a bit of shoulder and neck. Highly recommend it as an antidote to an overdose of shopping and BKK heat!
