Fur Women's Trip to India
Let me start by saying thank you to everyone that helped us plan this amazing trip. Your advice helped us to choose a travel company, Castle and King, choose our itinerary, and enjoy every minute of this amazing adventure and experience. This trip was different because we were four women traveling together, and we had to figure out how to manage the finances daily. We solved this problem before we left by deciding that each person would be responsible for all expenses for a particular day. Meaning that each of us only had to think about money every fifth day. This included all meals, tips, and everything except shopping which we managed to squeeze in. When we got home we reconciled and found that each of us had spent approximately the same amount.
There is no need to list all of the sites we visited as we did a fairly typical route. Delhi, Varanasi, Agra, Khajuraho, Jaipur, Udaipur, Cochin, We were gone 18 days and this was a very aggressive itinerary, but because of our wonderful driver Krishna and the Castle and King team we made it through. We even managed to have four massages which I believe kept us going. Some of the most used words and comments during our trip: I can't find it, I know it is lost, oh here it is, I need to organize the suitcase, you must have it, how much should we tip the luggage carriers, how many steps are there, OMG, and continually trying to come up with more adjectives than amazing, awesome, wonderful, spectacular. At the suggestion of this forum we took Rifaxamin daily, therefore, no stomach issues. We were careful of what we ate, but did not miss anything. I in particular had a problem with the spices in the food, but still managed to always find something. Things we would have changed: Added some extra time in some places just to enjoy the beautiful hotels, never having to go thru the Delhi airport, not doing visa on arrival as that took over two hours, and making time to accept the invitation of one of our guides to come to his village to celebrate his sons birthday. The next installment will give some information about our hotels, some guides names, and restaurants. |
FOUR WOMEN'S TRIP TO INDIA
Sorry everyone I guess jet lag is not over I could not even write the word Four correctly. |
Hi ladyrep,
I'm thrilled that you four ladies had a nice trip--I remember your planning questions. To me, the best part of India is being invited to a guide's home. Our Varanasi guide took us to a wedding, where me and my son were the guests of honor--we had make speeches to the bride and groom. The next day, he took us to his home where his wife cooked us a wonderful meal. Our Jaipur/Udaipur guide took us to a family village. The ladies were roasting corn on an open fire, and it was so delicious. I look forward to hearing about the rest of your trip. Just briefly, what did you like the best, and what did you like the least? |
Glad you had a good trip. Looking forward to hearing more details on the hotels and restaurants. Plus would be interested to hear more about problems you encountered at Delhi airport.

Based on your jet-lagged typo, I at first thought this was a trip report by Alaskan visitors to India. (:
Welcome home, Ladyrep! |
