I just made my res. for Residence Phou Vao since their availability was tight for Dec. and only room choice was garden view(which I hope is ok). I will try to find your report on it for more details, such as transfers, tours, etc.

i think their only room types are garden view....well maybe that is not right....our room looked out towards the mountains i guess....view is not that important there quite honestly...
you will love it....the rooms are huge...the pool is welcome....the library is a nice place to relax in a/c...the restaurant is quite good....while the location is out of town we preferred that except that we could not see the monks from there in the early mornings...

Bob, we had a fabulous view from our room. We overlooked the infinity pool and Phou Si (the "mountain" in the middle of town). I'm not sure what a "garden" view means. But you may well spend some of your time poolside. where you'll have that beautiful view.
Have you looked at our photos of Luang Prabang? We also have photos of the Golden Triangle area, and I think there are a few of the Anantara as well. www.marlandc.com

kathie---we had a fabulous view also...and a balcony on two sides as we were the first room down from the pool....101 i think....but it looked over the fruit trees and neighboring farms to the hills and the mid-town "mountain"....i guess i just sort of thought of that as a garden view....some other rooms must look over the side yard which is a garden setting too...

From their website, it looked like there was a choice of mountain or garden view, and maybe one other, but I'll take what I can get at this late date-now to work on flts. Did you just book your flts to LP on the Bangkok Air website or use the Dis. Pass?

That's what I was going to do but now there is a problem with availability for the flts to LP that coincide with availability of the hotel and I'm trying to avoid Laos Air. I'll work on it some more tomorrow-hopefully it will come together. Thanks.

How does this sound for an itinerary alone?
BKK-CR Dec. 3-6 Anantara
drive to CM
CM Four Seasons Dec. 6-9
Dec. 9th Thai Air to BKK arrives 11:30
Dec. 9th Bangkok Air 1:30 to LP
Dec. 9-12th LP Residence Phou Vao
Dec. 12th LP to BKK
NO Laos air flts.
Is that enough connection time in BKK to get to the flt to LP? Thanks again!

Actually, the Thai air flt arrives into BKK at 10:55am so that should give me plenty of time to catch the BKK air flt at 1:30, right? I can use TG for the flts to CR and from CM than use a Discovery Pass for the LP flts.

Is there a Bangkok Air flight from CM to BKK that would work for you? That would give you three legs on Bangkok Air, and would assure that your flights arrive and leave from the new airport.
Otherwise, as Bob says, just make sure your Thai Air flight from CM does go to the new airport.

Thanks, I just couldn't give up LP after reading all the reports about it and seems like I should see it sooner rather than later! Now, hopefully, I can avoid picking up my luggage too much-you all do check luggage on these hops, don't you?
