From DC - Question on Hotel De La Paix
I saw your posts on this hotel in Siem Reap and am now considering switching from the Victoria if I can get a comparable rate. You said that you stayed in a corner suite #123 - was this what they call a Courtyard Garden Suite (as opposed to a Deluxe Guestroom or a Deluxe Suite overlooking the street) on their web site? Thanks for your help.

craig---the hotel sounds fantastic and looks wonderful....
|
It was a deluxe suite and we think it was the best one because it had double exposure so it was very light. Probably the same configuration on the floor above. It will probably be more expensive than the Victoria but you may be able to negotiate with them on the rate if you are staying more than one or two nights.
You will not be disappointed with this hotel, it is just gorgeous in a modern way (which we don't normally love), especially magical in the evening when there are torches on the ground everywhere. The staff, very friendly, tries very hard, and the food was the best we had anywhere in Siem Reap. |
Thanks DC - I am going to e-mail the hotel to see what the best price for room 123 (or the one above it) is. Unfortunately, Ponheary, our guide can not get a "cash" price for this hotel.

We had been planning to make reservations at the Victoria before I found out about Hotel de la Paix. Seems like we are on the same wave-length!
|
FromDC has also sold me on the Hotel De La Paix....
Craig, I will be interested to hear what kind of price you can negotiate. We will be there in May (low season). I was planning on the FCC but La Paix looks soooo nice....and I would be there for my birthday, so it gives me an excuse to upgrade to a nicer hotel ;) |
Just checked asiarooms.com and they now offer the Hotel de La Paix (I had not seen this hotel on the site before). Low season rates including tax $149 inc. tax for the regular room.
I wonder if the hotel will honor this rate, as I would prefer not to use Asiarooms, in light of the recent negative comments. Best rate on the hotel's website is $180 plus tax. |
I received a response from the DLP this morning - they basically quoted me their internet rates. They do have a promotion through the end of March that includes 1 night dinner in their restaurant. It is listed under the "Happenings" section of their website. The price for the promotion is actually less than asiarooms' price based on a three night stay. We are going to go for it. My suggestion to you Cruisinred, is to e-mail the hotel and ask if they plan on having any promotions after March 31 - I bet they will since its low season. Alternatively you could just check the website again in a couple of months.

|
Merry Christmas to you too, HT.

Craig:
Was Ponheary upset when you changed your hotel reservations from her contact? Just curious as she has already made res for us in one of "her" hotels. Aloha! |
HT - she did not seem upset when I inquired if she could get a booking for us at the DLP. I have not yet cancelled with Ponheary though as I am waiting for confirmation from the DLP.
