We stayed at Victoria Angkor Hotel & Spa in Feb and would reccommend. Also, John Teng was our guide and he is outstanding. I have his e-mail as [email protected]. I don't know if the previous contact for him is correct. Ask John if Nang is availablr to drive, he was our driver.

MSheinberg- Did you post a report on your time in Cambodia? How was the Victoria Angkor? We are staying there in July.

Hi all
we arrive in Siem Reap (by bus from PP) around lunch time on 7 May and fly out on the mornign of 10 May.

As such we have two full and a half days.

In view of our contrasting feelings about having a guide we're thinking of having a driver all the time but a guide only on one full day.

What would you suggest are the absolutely must see in 2 1/2 days?

Was thinking of something along lines of some temples on afternoon fo 7th (friver & no guide). All day temples on 8th (driver & guide) and a mix of temples & other on 9th (driver & no guide).

What temples should we concentrate on (first time in SR). Is the lake really worth it?

Thanks for advice

If you have any interest in the temples, spend your time there rather than doing the visit to Tonele Sap.

Do some preparation by getting a copy of Dawn Rooney's book and reading about the various temples. Angkor Wat itself, Banteay Srei, Bayon are all must-see. Also, make sure you visit at least one of the so-called jungle temples, unrestored temples with the trees growing up though them simeltaneously tearing them apart and holding them together. There are several of these. Also, do make sure to visit some "minor" where you may be the only visitor. When were there in 2001, there were many such temples where we could be alone in the ruins. Your driver or guide should be able to recommend some such temples.

You are welcome to view our Angkor photos at www.marlandc.com The photos may also give you a sense of particular temples you want to visit.
