Four Seasons Tokyo OR Imperial Hotel

Hello Everyone,

I am planning a week long trip to Tokyo in next January, and have a hard time to deciding which hotel to choose. I have narrowed down to Four Seasons Tokyo at Chinzan-so and Imperial Hotel. Have anyone stayed at Four Seasons? Is Four Seasons far from the train station? Or I should pick Imperial Hotel which is centrally located near Ginza. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

My personal choice is the Imperial Hotel because of its close proximity to Ginza and walking distance to shopping and eateries. I felt like I was in an oasis at the Four Seasons, away from all that hustle and bustle of the city, very relaxing, but I am a shopaholic and love to mingle in the Tokyo crowds. I don't know how far the train station is from Four Seasons--we used taxi there. But seems most subway lines cross through Ginza.

You might want to consider Hotel Seiyo Ginza as well, which is right at Ginza and is an luxury boutique. I don't think Four Seasons is far away from the train station since it is only 5-minutes taxi ride from Seiyo Ginza and Seiyo Ginza is only 5-10 minutes from the train station as well.

I stayed at the Imperial Hotel for 2 months many years ago. The location and service were great. It was clearly a hotel for business people as opposed to tourists. The prices were very high even though the exchange rate was in the 200 yen to the $ as opposed to 102 yen to the $ today. I would think that the hotel would keep u the same level of service and cleanliness that it did years ago.

I don't know why you have a choice of the 2 hotels but we recently returned from the Four Seasons Marounuchi. It's both a Four Seasons AND has the location you want.. It has a lovely staff and is a very small boutique hotel adjacent Tokyo station.. I'd be happy to answer questions.

I have stayed at the Imperial Hotel. It is very very convenient to Ginza and to really anywhere else because it is close to three subway stations.

I have not stayed at Four Seasons Chizan-so. Looking at the Four Seasons site

as well as my detailed Tokyo map, the closest train station is Edogawabashi subway station, as shown in the hotel web site. According to my map, it looks like about 0.5 miles from the hotel. (notice also that the hotel mentions highway access but not subway access.)
