Four Day / 3 Nights itinerary
 

Dear Friends,

Need some help/ suggestions on our short trip to Sri Lanka. We have planned a very short trip to Sri Lanka and have arranged for a Car with Driver through a friend. The suggested itinerary that our friends suggests is as follows :

Day 1 - Arrive at Noon at SL, Proceed to Dambula caves and later checkin to hotel
Day 2 - Sigriya Village, Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala, Temple of Tooth at Kandy
Day 3 - Nuwara Eliya, RAmboda Waterfalls, Gregory Lake
Day 4 - Drive to Colombo, See around Colombo
Day 5 - Depart in the morning.

We love to explore local food and drinks. Any suggestions during our visits to the above places.

Further, are there good restaurants in all the places. We havent booked hotels and not sure whether to take rooms with Dinner inclusive or just take breakfast..and explore various restaurants for dinner....

Three nights never yields four days, but a mere two full days for sightseeing. I loved my time in Sri Lanka, but you haves so little time there, I'd recommend you choose somewhere you could get an introduction to in two days

The roads in SL are bad, not sure you have allowed enough transit time. In any case, I would skip Colombo and add time elsewhere.

Certainly an action packed itinerary.

If you are fit and energetic suggest as follows

Day 1 - Arrive at Noon at SL, Proceed to Dambula caves and later checkin to hotel
Day 2 - Climb Sigiya in the morning and afternoon elephant Safari in Minneriya or Kaudulla, (overnigt at same hotel as day 1)
Day 3 - Early morning drive to Kandy with a spice garden stop over followed by sight seeing at kany temple, botanic garden, lunch and then afternoon drive to Nuwareliya, overnight in Nuwara Eliya
Day 4 - Drive to Colombo via Kithulgala route with white water river rafting interlude, and afternoon drive to Colombo and overnight in Colombo, dinner at a nice restaurant in Colombo.
Day 5 - Depart in the morning.
