Forum on the Maldives?
 

Is anyone aware of a good forum on the Maldives? Its so hard to find information about the location and to find people who have been there.

Try going on the European board, as lots of Europeans travel here for vacation. You might also try the Australia board as they're not too far from there.
Just a suggestion - you might luck out with some info.

www.malediven.net is excellent, complete with searchable threads, detailed travel reports and pictures.

One drawback for most is that it is in German. But use an internet-based text translator (I use freetranslation.com or systransoft.com) and you'll get the main idea of what's going on.

I don't think an English-based forum exists, because I've search high and low in vain

Try www.virtualtourist.com There are losts of posts on their forums about the Maldives. Type Maldives in the search box. The next screen will say there is not a specific forum, and on that screen you need to choose to do a full keyword search on "Maldives". The next screen will then guide you to several people's pages on the Maldives (w/greata photos) and you can post questions privately to those people; it will also lead you to all the forum questions and answers on the Maldives. Then you can figure out the bet area to post your question in. I recently found this site and it is a good one.

I haven't found a good forum just for the Maldives but there are different travel forum (such as this and VT that has been mentioned) that can help you. I have posted my trip report with lots of pictures from Sun Island in the Maldives (south Ari Atoll) on my personal homepage gardkarlsen.com :-D
