fly from delhi to agra?
 

so a friend who spent several months traveling in india suggested bypassing delhi (we'll be there during the blistering heat of may) and flying directly to agra. however, while kheria airport in agra seems to exist, haven't seen any flights that go from mumbai to agra.

anyone know if you can indeed fly directly to agra, and if so, whether you can do it from mumbai (or better still, goa)?

There are no longer commerical flights into Agra. It has been many years since these have operated.

I don't think there are flights from Mumbai to Agra direct, certainly not from Goa. Best thing to do is, take the Shatabdi Express train from Delhi to Agra and back.

Kheria airport in Agra is a military airport only. There are no commerical flights into Agra.

thanks, all -- just got back from the andamans (trip report forthcoming in may after i get back stateside...). did become clear that there is no way to fly directly to agra, so to avoid the hassle, hoi polloi involved with getting from delhi's airport to its train station and to maximize our time (esp in this withering heat), am planning to be picked up at the del airport by a car and drive directly to agra since on the way there, we don't get there in time to make the shatabdi express to agra. am happy to take the train on the way back since both my mother and i love riding the rails, however short the journey ;)

so my final query is by any chance does someone have a rough idea of how much an A/C car from delhi airport to agra might cost? i'm aware that we may well be asked to pay for the car's return journey to del (a travel agent here in calcutta was suggesting we simply keep the car for the duration of our two-day visit to agra and make it R/T via car but i think that would be both prohibitively expensive and not as much fun as the train anyway...). any thoughts, ballpark estimates of what the one-way trip might cost would be most appreciated...
