Flooding in Bangkok?
Can anyone tell us how serious the flooding situation is at present in Bangkok? Was going to buy my "Access Asia Pass" today, and this was the first city on our list, arriving next week. I can either not go to Bangkok, or change my itinerary and arrive later.

Also plan to visit Vietnam, Cambodia, and possibly Laos. Any info on flooding or heavy rains there?
Thanks!

Bangkok is fine since it has it's own flood walls, dams etc to protect it. Yesterday's flood was due to extremely heavy rain lasting over 7 hours and the city administrators could not pump out the water in time.

The rest of the country, 63 out of 75 provinces are still flooded. Most of the flood water is now getting a bit stale and smelly. They predict that if there are no more major storm (depression, cyclones etc.) then everything should return to normal within a couple of weeks.

Global warming - don't you just love it?

Glad to read Hanuman's reply.

I'll also be arriving in Bangkok in 3 days, and the news about floods in the region was making me wonder if I should wait before leaving Europe.

Any one else have any news on this? Thks
bob
