How much in advance do you need to book flights in these countries to ensure not having to waste time waiting to get them on the day requested ?We will be travelling Jan./Feb.

Vietnamese new year, Tet is from 15 to 20 Feb when everyone goes home to their villages, so if you are contemplating travelling on or near these dates, I would book asap. as transport does get booked up in advance.

I think, but am not sure, that Lao and Cambodia have holidays at similar times but not quite so marked as Vietnam. Same applies to accomodation in Vietnam.

Only if there are seats available. Some flights use turboprops, so not a lot of passenger capacity.

One advantage of booking late is less chance of a schedule change.

We have taken around 15 flights around Asia in the last six months. I would say 75% were full. When they filled up I couldn’t say.

I suggest you try a few specimen bookings on the airline sites now to check current availability, bearing in mind that it will be busier in a few months
