Flights Hanoi to Phuket

In May 2008 we are travelling to Vietnam and will finish our tour in Hanoi and want to fly to Phuket for the next let of our holiday.
Can anyone suggest what airline/s to use. I know Thai Airways fly Hanoi-Bangkok-Phuket but that is quite expensive.
Look forward to your suggestions.

Air Asia fly Hanoi-BKK and Bangkok Airways fly from BKK to Phuket.

May be cheaper options but just to get you started.

www.airasia.com
www.bangkokair.com

Then there's www.nokair.com

A newer carrier but seems to fly direct Hanoi-BKK and BKK-Phuket.

Immensely slow website.

But there you go - just some ideas.

Have fun.

Many thanks.... Air Asia look like the best one so far... you are so right about the Nok Air website, slow and a little frustrating!!!

Air Asia is cheap, but as a budget airline, there are some things you should know. They have a limited baggage allowance and you will be charged for overage (which can be substantial). If you miss your flight for any reason (even if they rescheduled your flight and didn't tell you) there is no refund and no rebooking. SOme peolpe have had no problem with them, others report very late flights, missed connections, etc. If you do a search o this board for Air Asia you'll find others' experiences.

One other caveat, now that ther are two airports operating in Bangkok, do make sure both flights you are booking fly in and out of the same airport (since it's an international connection, that means the new airport, BKK).

If you book until Oct 31, Nok Air flight from Hanoi to BKK is only $50 compared to $100 on Air Asia. It may be worth the slow website :) It's also a discount airline. No frills and don't expect to be rebooked, but they'll get you there safely.

Thank you.... are you saying then that Nok Air is a safer airline than Air Asia??

Nok Air has assigned seating. Air Asia does not (although they might introduce priority boarding for an extra cost soon).

Air Asia has been know to frequently experience delays of up to 4 hours without notice or explanation. I was on a Nok Air flight on Friday that was delayed 2 hours, and I got an SMS 8 hours ahead of time informing me of the delay.

Safety has not been an issue with either airline, yet.
