Flights from Bangkok to Phnom Penh
Hi everyone. A group of my friends and I are planning a 2 week vacation to Thailand and Cambodia in January. We want to fly straight to Phnom Penh from Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), which airline should we use to make this trip? I found a flight from Cambodia Airlines for about $200, but I'm not sure if thats the best option.
Just want to get some ideas on how much this flight should cost.

You can fly Air Asia from Don Muaeng airport (DMK) which is the old Bangkok airport. You can also fly Thai Airways from Suvarnabhumi but it will probably be more expensive than the other airlines.

If you are arriving into Bangkok long haul, especially if you are on Thai Airways then speak to your flights agent about adding the BKK to PNH flights after your layover in Thailand. The regional flights can be a steal as an add-on to long haul.
Otherwise you are looking at around US$85 one way from DMK (air asia) or around $200 on Thai, Cambodia Angkor Air or Bangkok Air. If you go for the CAA option be especially careful that you put the exact passport name on your tickets as they have been known to charge for spelling differences.

From Suvarnabhumiyou have a choice of Bangkok Air(most flights)costing around 289,Thai Air around 324 and Cambodia Air 264. Then their is a cheap flight with Air Asia from the old airport for 165 but only 1 flight at 1520. It all depends when you arrive as to what flights are available to you.

A bit of arrival info at PP.
As you're flying into Cambodia a Visa on Arrival is easy and quick @ US$20 + a couple of photos.
On the flight from Bangkok you should be given 3 forms to complete...
- VOA form
- Immigration Form
- Customs Form
In the Arrival Hall, the order of play is, Visa, Immigration, Customs, Baggage retrieval.
There's a fixed-price taxi counter, ditto for tuk tuks.
Takes about 35-40 minutes to get downtown. Traffic will probably be v.busy.
A good start to PP is the Happy Hour at the Foreign Correspondents Club (FCC) on Sisowath Quay, between 1700-1900. Arrive a bit early and get the seats on the balcony overlooking the Quay, river, and traffic chaos below.
