Flights - Vietnam to Cambodia, w/in Cambodia, C to Thailand
Hi,
What airlines fly from Vietnam to either (or both) Siem Reap and Phnom Phen and then from either of those locales to Thailand (Phuket).
It seems like we are planning our trip in the wrong direction, but we are starting in Vietnam (HCMC), then flying to Hanoi, and them flying from Hanoi to Cambodia and from Cambodia to Thailand, but not sure the most efficient way of doing this.
Thanks for any and all help!!
Sincerely,
Claudia in Colorado

From Vietnam to Cambodia, VN Air is the major airline. I don't know if any of the budget airlines fly that route. From Siem Reap to Thailand, your only non-stops to Bangkok are on Bangkok Air. From PP to Bangkok you have Thai Air and the budget airline, Air Asia.

Thanks Kathie,
Wondering if anyone is familiar with Korean Airlines and if they fly between the aforementioned countries too?
I think it's hard to book flights ahead of time from the U.S., but we're finding that we need to somehow or we can't get a VISA from Vietname unless we show proof of departure from the country? And all we have is proof that we're leaving Thailand for the States, but no proof of getting directly out of vietnam.

only Vietnam Airlines fly this route and it's not cheap. VA doesn't do online booking. You can book once you get there or the cheapest way to book online is via www.vayama.com. hanoi-siem reap is $222 and hcmc-siem reap is $180 or so. no discount airline flies this route. Air Asia's only flight to Vietnam is Bangkok-Hanoi.

expedia is the only one that does internal Asia flights, such as from/to Siem Reap. But they charge $20 for paper tickets, the only way to get these tickets on that site. Vayama.com is the cheapest one I've found online and I've looked for a while.

vayama.com is good for international to/from vietnam. www.ivuvu.com is good for internal Vietnam flights, vayama is not. pacificairlines.com is ever cheaper since it's directly through the airline (can't do it for vietnam airlines over the internet though)

Silk Air, the Singapore Airline subsidary, flies from Siem Reap to Danang (Vietnam) which was a very convenient route for us last summer. For some reason I don't remember we couldn't book it in advance through a US agent or Singapore airlines and used a local agent in Siem Reap who made the booking in advance and whom we paid when we arrived in Cambodia.
Hope this helps, it doesn't seem like many people use this route but it's particularly useful if you want to travel from Siem Reap to Hue and Hoi An.
