flight packages

I'm heading to Singapore for 2 weeks in June/July. Flights are pricing around $2,000 out of DC, and only slightly less in NYC. I see lots of packages that include hotel + airfare. Has anyone tried these?

Also, any tips on finding a good travel agent for Asian travel?

you might try Pacific Delight Tours. I have used them for China twice, both times staying at the Jinglun Hotel. And I plan on going there again and going thru Pacific Delight.. they were great.
I flew out of O'hare and stayed 7 days the first time ( $880.00) and 2 years ago for 10 days ( $1100.00). And that included airfare, hotel, transfers, buffet breakfast daily, all tours and lunches with the tours. I think they were classified " Supervalue Tours", they were truely a super value.

Go for a package since it's probably too late for you to get a decent airfare on your own. Singapore Air usually has some very good packages. Happy Travels!

Thanks! I am checking into Asian Affair Holidays which is part of Singapore Air. Their air+hotel setups look flexible and reasonable.

I'm glad you're looking into Singapore Air's packages. My best friend has used Singapore Air packages almost annually since the mid 90s. Once we were on vacation together and she was on a package, but I was not. We had booked different airlines and met in S.E. Asia to start our vacation. We stayed in hotels across the street from each other in Singapore since she wanted to stay in the 3/4-star Rendevous Hotel and I wanted to stay at the "Y" which I've stayed at since the 90s. Happy Travels!
