Flight - Goa to Mumbai

Have just been quoted $231 for 2 flying from Goa to Mumbai (1 way) in December. I thought internal flights were considerably cheaper in India. Does this sound right?

That's expensive. I think it should be around US$125-150. Check the websites yourself - Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Sahara all fly this sector. YOu may need to figure out domestic and intl fares.

Hi there! Are you saying $231 per person, or $231 for both combined? The one-way fare Goa-bombay would be about $115 per person ! that is a good fare! I would suggest to go for JET or Sahara Airlines, if you have a choice! Internal flights in India are not cheap, nothing like BKK! There is also a slightly different price structure for Indians and foriegners. And yes, there are plenty of new domestic carriers popping up like Air Deccan, Kingfisher Airlines, and Spicejet, so perhaps the prices will start going down, but domestic flights in India are quite expensive! Delhi-Bombay one-way can be about $200

Sorry my question was confusing - this fare is for 2 people - US$115.5 each - with Jet Airways. I have travelled with JA previously (and have chosen them again as they were more reliable than Indian Airways who cancelled one of my flights leaving me sitting for 4 hours at the airport) but the fare was part of a very reasonable 'package' put together by a travel agent in Delhi. Was planning to book flights on line this time. Hobbes - if your 125-150 was for one person then both yourself and Bonita seem to be in agreement that this is the going rate. Can you please confirm.

yes, that is the going rate, about $115 per person one-way on jet air, goa-Bombay!

My recommendation, however, is that you stick with Jet Airways even though it is more expensive than the others. For one, it is an established airline, with superb service. More important, they have several flights per day into and out of Goa (in the peak season, this is to one's advantage).

Thanks everyone - will go ahead and book with Jet Airways.
Hi Toondoug - not being a wuss we are travelling back to Goa by overnight train with Konkan Railways - flight is more of a lack of time issue.
