FISHING in hiroshima as A TOURIST?
 

im thinking to host one of my best friends coming from US in such a way that he will never forget what he experiences in hiroshima. (he says he wants to go to hiroshima)

he loves sushi and fishing on a boat. so i was looking for a fishing boat where we can have really fresh sushi or sashimi right after we catch fish.

but since i have never fished on a boat in hiroshima and he is just a tourist coming from US with a pretty busy schedule, i have no idea if my idea works. he will stay in hiroshima for 2 or 3days, spending a day in Miyajima and the other days in hiroshima city.

i just wanna keep it secret....

if you have ever planned so or have any idea just let me know!!

Apart from the difficulties of catching the species you intend to catch you will also need someone to prepare the fish (kill it then bleed it and then skilfully cut up or prepare the fish) for you. Best bet would be to target bottom feeding fish or squid but I fear that you might go hungry first so you might want to consider bringing along some sandwiches.

Hmm … in addition to the concerns Hanuman raises, I wonder what your friend wants to do while in the area. Just seeing the highlights of Miyajima and Hiroshima could easily take 2 days, so a "surprise" activity may not leave him time to see or experience the things that make him want to the area. Just a thought.

May i ask if any legal restrictions about fishing in coastal waters of Japan, esp if 'alien'? How about in local rivers?

he will stay in hiroshima for 4 days maybe in total. so i assume that he will have enough time to join fishing there if he wants to go.

but my biggest concern is that i have never heard of international tourists fishing and having sushi stuff on the boat, so ive just wanna ask you here if you guys have thought of or experienced fishing and some fresh fish on a boat?

Lots of tourist go fishing in foreign countries and eat freshly caught fish be it raw (sashimi) or cooked. However, to do it purposely is rather difficult as there are no guarantee that you will catch anything or you will catch enough fish to make a meal out of it. Also, the cost will probably be more than taking your friend to a nice sushi restaurant in town!

You will need to get in touch with the fisherman's association, find the head of it, obtain permission to go out on a boat - unless you can find a commercial tour on offer already and I don't see one.
